SAMHSA Disaster App
Extreme weather events often lead to fatalities and a variety of health impacts on vulnerable populations, including impacts on mental health such as anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. The phone-based Disaster App from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration can help responders provide quality support to survivors.
Responders can access mental health resources—including tip sheets and maps of area behavioral health service providers—from their mobile device before, during, and after an extreme weather event. Tools to support survivors include tip sheets, a directory and mapping of area behavioral health service providers, a directory of publications that can be shared through text or email, and other resources for use in the field. Self-care support for responders is available at all stages of deployment.
